It has been an honour acting as the Rodney-Aldborough
Fair Ambassador for the 2007 – 2008 year. The learning
opportunities have been endless and rewarding and I am
very grateful for the experience.
Throughout the year, I was able to expand my horizons,
learn more about the fair board and also about agriculture
in our own community. I was lucky enough to attend multiple
functions and collaborate with other fairs on how
important fairs are to a community and how to make our
own fair better. It was an amazing privilege to be a representative
of our great community and fair. I thoroughly
enjoyed my duties as Fair Ambassador, especially helping
with the Pet Competition during the fair, as well as attending
the CNE and being able to converse with other Ambassador
from all over Canada.
Because of my year as Fair Ambassador, I have learned
that we are so blessed as a small community for our success
in maintaining a strong agricultural presence and our pride
as well. The kindness and caring of people in our community
is overwhelming. At the various conventions I was able to
talk to other Fair Ambassadors about their fairs and
communities, and even though we may be a small township
and we don’t have all the fancy gadgets, we still have a fair
full of heart and fellowship; and this has to be one of the
best things a community can have.
I would like to thank the fair board for all their help and
friendship during my rein as
Ambassador, as they really
made me feel like a part of the
team. I would like to thank my
family and friends as well, for
being so supportive and helpful
over the past year. Even though
I will be away from home for
the next few years, I look
forward to returning to the
small community I am so proud
of every September!

2007 Ambassador
